The work is different now.
So is the standard.

For juniors and seniors, the positioning work and the execution happen in the same season. The thesis still drives everything. What changes is how fast we move and how much we are building versus deploying.

Junior year: connect the pieces. Then add the one that makes it unforgettable.

Junior year is when the pieces come together into a coherent thesis. We find the connective thread, plug the gaps the thesis exposes, and identify the one or two final elements — a signature project, a curated placement, a body of work — that take a strong profile and make it impossible to set aside.

The Senior Summer Strategy is the culmination of that work — a deliberate proof point that makes the thesis visible before application season begins. By the time junior year ends, the school list is locked, the personal statement is in progress, and the student knows exactly what story they are telling.

12th Grade

Senior year is about excavation and execution.

Senior year is not just execution. Yes, the activities list is largely set. But the most important material — the student's actual inner life, their perspective, their contradictions, their specific way of moving through the world — has never been fully surfaced.

Any consultant can help a student list what they have done. We go beneath the surface and bring up what is there. That is where the thesis lives. That is what makes the application impossible to forget. The activities list is the tip of the iceberg. We build the application on everything underneath it.

The Highest-Leverage Moment

What you do the summer before
senior year is the thesis made visible.

For students who come to us in junior year, the first thing we look at is the summer. The summer before senior year is the last chance to add a proof point that reads as earned rather than manufactured. We design that summer deliberately around one of three options, depending on the student's S.P.I.N. profile and what their thesis most needs to demonstrate.

Signature Project

An independent initiative scoped during the spring of junior year and executed over the summer. A podcast, a research project, a community initiative, a creative body of work. Something the student owns completely, that no one else in their pool is building, and that becomes the flagship proof point for the entire application. The thesis made tangible.

Curated Internship Placement

For students whose thesis centers on a specific industry, field, or professional context, Monique places them directly through her network of founders, executives, and entrepreneurs. This is a deliberate placement designed to deepen a specific proof point. When the fit is right, it changes what the application can say.

Independent Research

For students with a strong intellectual thread in their S.P.I.N. profile, we guide them through the design and execution of an independent research project — identifying advisers, scoping the inquiry, and positioning the work for publication or conference submission where appropriate.

What We Do Together

Specific, thorough,
and yours.

The Thesis Method does not change for juniors and seniors. The S.P.I.N. excavation, the Student UVP, the 10 C's as the evaluative standard. What changes is the pace and the sequencing.

Thesis Development

The S.P.I.N. framework and Student Essence session happen first. We do not write a word of the application until we know what the thesis is.

Personal Statement

Two-hour Narrative Studio Discovery Session, outline, and multiple rounds of drafting and refinement until it reads like a person who has something to say.

Supplemental Essays

Up to ten schools. Every supplement built on the thesis foundation. Prompt pooling and overlap mapping create efficiency without flattening voice.

Activities List and Résumé

Every activity positioned to reinforce the thesis. Descriptions written to show depth, leadership, and sustained contribution.

School List Strategy

Built around genuine fit and honest data. Locked by August 1 alongside the personal statement so senior year is fully focused on execution.

Letters of Recommendation

Brag sheet development, recommender selection strategy, and guidance for teachers on what to include. We also help students identify and cultivate optional recommenders — mentors, supervisors, community leaders — whose letters speak to dimensions of the student no teacher can access. Every letter gets reviewed and refined.

Interview Coaching

Strategy session, recorded mock interviews, and debrief. By the time a student walks into an admissions interview, the thesis is so internalized they do not have to think about it.

Waitlist and Decision Support

Letters of continued interest, portal updates, and strategic guidance through the final stretch, including how to evaluate and respond to offers when they arrive.

One-on-One Throughout

Every client works directly with Monique. No hand-offs. No junior consultants. The same person who runs the thesis session is the one editing the final supplement.

How It Sequences

Every phase
has a purpose.

Junior Year Spring

S.P.I.N. session and Student Essence. Senior Summer Strategy designed. Signature Project scoped, internship placement confirmed, or research direction identified. Activities list and résumé finalized — so senior year is entirely focused on essays. Narrative Studio pre-work completed. Target 5 ED/EA school essays started so there is a bank to draw from before decisions are finalized.

Summer Before Senior Year

Signature Project, internship, or research executed. Personal statement Discovery Session and first draft. Revisions through multiple rounds. School list locked by July 1 — giving families a full month for any final campus visits before decisions are made.

August 1

Personal statement complete. Common App portal opened — we guide students through the general information and academic reporting sections, where a surprising amount gets lost or mishandled. Shift to supplemental essays with a target of having ED/EA essays complete before the first day of senior year.

September through November

Remaining supplementals written and refined. Interview coaching completed. Early Decision and Early Action submissions. Senior year stays focused on essays — the activities list and résumé were already locked in the summer.

November through January

Regular Decision submissions. Ongoing support through all deadlines.

After Decisions

Waitlist strategy and decision support. The work is not done until the student has made a choice they feel genuinely good about.

Where You Are Right Now

The timeline changes.
The method does not.

The S.P.I.N. framework, the Student UVP, the 10 C's — these are consistent regardless of when a student comes to us. What changes is how much runway we have to build versus deploy.

A student in junior year has time to develop a signature project, deepen existing commitments, and enter application season with a fully formed identity. A student in senior year gets the strongest possible application built from what is actually there — including everything beneath the surface that no activities list has ever captured.
